Interview M.Haslam & M. Hung

video
play-sharp-fill

Recorded in Beijing / China in April 2007. one day before the IDBF became a member of GAISF, this video is a true historical one. It is the only interview with both key-persons who actually started the development of Dragon Boating to become a modern sport. Mason Hung from the Hong Kong Tourist Association – now named Hong Kong Tourism Board – has sent in the early ’80’s Dragon Boats to the UK in order to promote tourism to Hong Kong. Mike Haslam, at that time with the ICF, recognized the potential of Dragon Boating as a sport and started to promote it. His actions – under the support of Mason and the HKTA – finally resulted in the foundation of the EDBF, ADBF and IDBF.

If you want to know the full story of Modern Dragon Boating you will need 38 minutes of your time to listen. – This is one of the early videos produced for Dragon Boat Net and we apologize for some background noice, coming from restaurant we were sitting in.
